Job Profile

Manager – Mission and Flight Operations (Launch Operations). This role is part of Blue'Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue'Origin facilities.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include manufacturing plan development, work‑order authoring, mentoring and career‑path development for employees, design‑for‑manufacturing emphasis, and hands‑on technical engagement with design, analysis, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and engineering collaboration.

We seek a proactive, service‑oriented individual with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities
  • Enable the success of a team of high‑impact manufacturing engineers.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and support for engineers to develop goals, career paths, and professional development.
  • Establish roles, responsibilities, and accountability for all team members.
  • Balance workflow and priorities across the team.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements and grow the team through recruiting and hiring top‑performing manufacturing engineers.
  • Coordinate and work closely with program managers, operations leaders, and Integrated Product Team Leads to meet design, build, and test objectives.
  • Support the team in applying robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes in support of launch‑integration processes.
  • Create required data‑gathering tools for tracking and improving team performance.
  • Review and understand company‑wide processes and command media to ensure proper compliance.
  • Help the team define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight.
  • Promote DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
  • Engage in manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and maintenance and product structure definition.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field);
    Master of Science preferred.
  • Experience managing people, projects, or programs.
  • Strong coordination, personnel, and project management skills.
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing, including castings, forgings, additive manufacturing, welding, machining, cleaning, non‑destructive testing, tight‑tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing, and manufacturing execution systems/software.
  • Proven success developing new manufacturing processes and continuously improving existing ones.
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and progress in ambiguous environments.
  • Understanding of the entire product lifecycle management.
  • 7+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization.
