Strategy and Market Development Director

Full Time

$180-200K Annually

Brooksource is partnering with a leading energy company to place a Strategy & Market Development Director within its North America regional leadership team. This is a senior, highly visible individual-contributor role responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the North America hub — translating global corporate strategy into a regional agenda, synthesizing market intelligence into a clear point of view, identifying new growth opportunities across the energy landscape, and serving as a trusted thought partner to regional leadership and the board.

The role sits at the intersection of market intelligence, executive communication, and cross-divisional collaboration. You will act as an advisor and "healthy challenger" to the business — shaping strategy and building the case for growth — while the business units that own the P&L carry execution. Success depends on someone who has enough real-world execution experience to know what works in practice, without being the implementer.

The

Opportunity

You’ll own the region’s strategic agenda: building a deep understanding of the external energy market, identifying white-space opportunities, and developing the business cases, partnerships, and go-to-market playbooks needed to bring them to life. You’ll produce and deliver executive-level presentations on behalf of the region head, lead cross-divisional collaboration on growth initiatives, and serve as the North America hub’s primary voice on market intelligence, competitor positioning, and decarbonization strategy.

If you thrive operating with high autonomy, move comfortably between big-picture strategy and the practical realities of execution, and want real influence over outcomes that matter at the enterprise level — this is the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate global corporate strategy into a regionally relevant roadmap, with particular emphasis on decarbonization and energy-transition initiatives.
  • Synthesize a high volume of market signal — regulatory shifts, demand trends, and competitor moves — into a clear, defensible regional market position and set of recommendations.
  • Serve as a thought partner to regional leadership on strategic direction, growth priorities, and market positioning.
  • Identify cross-divisional and cross-BU synergies and white-space opportunities currently unaddressed in the North America market.
  • Analyze competitor strategies at the regional level and develop counter-positioning recommendations.
  • Support company-wide strategy processes, including the annual Market Evaluation, quarterly executive/board strategy inputs, Quarterly Competitor Reporting, and Customer Net Promoter Score evaluation.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate market analysis and reporting — and help advance the region’s agentic strategic-intelligence platform, a current team priority.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years of energy-sector experience in the North America market, with 10+ years in strategy and/or business development.
  • Deep fluency in power generation and transmission (the "wires" business) is the priority on day one; solid working knowledge of clean/distributed energy and storage; awareness of Oil & Gas and of the industrial demand drivers (data centers, electrification, industrials) shaping electricity demand.
  • Background in energy consulting, market research, investment banking, or a comparable strategy environment; management-consulting "playbook" experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and business cases from a blank page and carry them through the challenges of execution — as the advisor and architect rather than the implementer.
  • AI-forward: actively uses AI tools in day-to-day work (for example, has built or run prompts/agents) and is eager to apply them to market analysis and reporting.
