Asphalt Distributor Operator​/CDL Driver

Overview

Hubbard Construction, a Florida heavy‑civil construction leader with 100+ years of experience, seeks an Asphalt Distributor Operator to support highway projects, pavement, and bridge construction.

• Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet project standards.
• Hold a CDL A or B with N‑tanker and X‑hazmat endorsements and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Drive and operate a distributor truck equipped with a tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
• Connect hoses from storage tank to truck tank and move lever to fill the pressure tank with asphalt liquid.
• Regulate the burner to heat the liquid and start the auxiliary pump.
• Snap or screw on spray bars to attain the required width of spray.
• Turn the valve to regulate the flow of material at the specified rate and adjust levers to adjust the height of the spray bar from the road surface.
• Monitor flow gauges, tachometer, and temperature gauge to insure uniform distribution.
• Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspect for leaks and damage to the machine before operation.
• Maintain daily equipment maintenance to remain in proper and safe working order.
• Notify the supervisor if equipment needs to be repaired.
• Understand and execute different emulsions.
• Shifts may vary according to project demands.
• Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily.

• Requires demonstrable previous experience as an Asphalt Distributor Operator.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
• One (1) year or more of industry‑related experience is required, emphasizing asphalt, roads, highways, and bridges.

• Stand, sit, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods during an 8‑hour shift.
• Walk and climb on uneven surfaces of heavy equipment.
• Lift at least 50 pounds frequently and carry at least 30 pounds personally, up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Operate hand tools with manual dexterity.
• Maintain constant alertness to concurrent activities at the construction site.
• Climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
• Hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds relevant to safety and communication.

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to high noise and dust levels common on road construction sites.
• Regular work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Exposure to substances such as form oil, grease, gasoline, diesel fuel, and asphalt concentrate at hot temperatures.
