Summary
At Balfour Beatty Construction in South Florida, we are seeking a Project Manager
. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a construction project. This role involves overseeing contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements to ensure projects are completed with quality, profitability, and adherence to our Safety/Zero Harm culture.
Essential Functions
- Collaborates with scheduling, superintendent, subcontractors, and suppliers to create a construction schedule.
- Develops an organizational and responsibilities matrix at the start of each project and determines the resources needed (e.g., people, tools, equipment, materials, internal and external services). Partners with Loss Prevention Professionals assigned to the jobsite.
- Reviews contract documents with all project participants to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinates and delivers all requirements for subcontractors and suppliers to meet project schedules.
- Responsible for project administration and daily operations, including maintaining the project schedule, milestone dates, and close-out checklist. Reviews progress quarterly and assigns responsibilities accordingly.
- Establishes relationships and communication tools with suppliers and key stakeholders to verify timely delivery of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and personnel, ensuring performance standards and expectations are understood.
- Ensures project site and company assets are secure, maintaining a safe and respectful working environment by implementing safety, risk management, training, and quality control programs, including project-specific SAP.
- Creates and manages the project budget and coordinates the development of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).
- Understands owner’s contract requirements, including bonds, fees, notifications, schedules, reporting, and costs.
- Prepares and completes monthly Projected Final Cost Reports (PFR) and Labor Cost Reports (LCR).
- Develops a Project Incentive Compensation Plan within 30 days of GMP acceptance.
- Builds effective relationships with customers, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups, reflecting company core values and exceeding customer expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- At least ten years of experience in commercial construction project management.
- Minimum of three years of direct supervisory experience.
- Experience with project management software such as Constructware, P6, Timberline, etc.
- Experience with cost projection, financial analysis, budget reviews, and labor reports.
- Familiarity with JD Edwards or similar construction applications.
Preferred Requirements
- Local candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with Tier 1 or large general contractor commercial construction is preferred.
