We are seeking an Engineering Construction Inspector to join a firm helping build Florida’s infrastructure. You will be a key member of the field inspection team, responsible for overseeing the construction of roadways and bridges to ensure all work is performed in accordance with FDOT standards and project specifications. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of Florida’s transportation infrastructure through thorough inspections and detailed reporting on construction activities.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed inspections of roadway and bridge construction projects to ensure adherence to all applicable standards, codes, and specifications.
- Accurately document inspection results and compile comprehensive reports to maintain records of construction compliance with FDOT requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the construction crew, project engineers, and managers to discuss and rectify potential issues identified during inspections.
- Keep track of construction progress, focusing on aspects such as earthwork, asphalt paving, concrete reinforcement, and structural steelwork.
- Maintain and properly handle inspection tools and equipment in accordance with industry best practices.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on road and bridge projects.
- Knowledgeable about FDOT construction procedures and policies.
- Preferred certifications:
Certified Construction Inspector (CCI) or equivalent. - Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Advanced certifications relevant to FDOT construction projects.
- Valid driver's license and an exemplary driving record.
- In-depth knowledge of FDOT's construction standards, practices, and specifications.
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of inspectors.
- communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Driver's License (Required).
- Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) Certification preferred.
- OSHA Safety (Preferred).
- Concrete and HMA certification (Preferred).
$30/hr-$38/hr exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
