Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Project Manager and Senior Project Manager to oversee large-scale mechanical construction projects in Orlando, FL. These roles are responsible for managing the full project lifecycle from initiation through closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality standards and client expectations. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with extensive experience working for a mechanical or plumbing subcontractor managing complex commercial mechanical systems, including plumbing, piping, and HVAC installations on projects exceeding $5M.
Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Open Positions: 2 (Project Manager and Senior Project Manager)
Compensation: $115,000 – $130,000 annually (based on experience)
Additional Compensation and Benefits:
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Monthly vehicle allowance (approximately $450/month)
- Manage all phases of mechanical construction projects from planning through completion and closeout
- Conduct project handoff meetings, kickoff meetings, and ongoing operational meetings
- Ensure project scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards are consistently met
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule or cost deviations
- Perform project financial setup including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontract costs
- Conduct monthly cost reviews and forecast financial performance
- Manage Accounts Receivable, including pay applications, schedules of value, and collections
- Oversee Accounts Payable processes and coordinate timely vendor and subcontractor payments
- Manage change orders to ensure scope and budget alignment
- Negotiate vendor and subcontractor agreements aligned with project estimates
- Monitor risk management items including contracts, insurance, bonds, and notices to proceed
- Coordinate lien waivers, permits, tax documentation, and compliance requirements
- Ensure adherence to state, local, and federal regulations
- Review and approve project submittals for compliance with drawings and specifications
- Coordinate with BIM, quality control, and field supervision teams
- Participate in jobsite meetings, inspections, and commissioning activities
- Coordinate startup, commissioning, and project closeout deliverables including:
- As-built drawings
- Operations and maintenance manuals
- Equipment startup documentation
- Warranty documentation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Provide status updates, financial reports, and project progress communications
- Support project teams in resolving issues and ensuring successful project delivery
- Attend jobsite coordination meetings
- Schedule material deliveries and equipment rentals
- Review jobsite labor reports and progress documentation
- Prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Coordinate permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices
- Monitor project status, billings, and collections
- 10+ years of experience working for a mechanical or plumbing subcontractor (General Contractor-only experience will not be considered)
- Proven experience managing plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems on heavy commercial construction projects valued at $5M or greater
- Experience supporting healthcare, hospital, or higher education construction projects preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent field experience may be considered
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods, materials, scheduling, and project financial management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience coordinating BIM processes and mechanical systems integration
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale commercial mechanical construction projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- 100% onsite at the project location in Orlando, FL
- Exposure to noise, equipment, and outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain stationary for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate active construction sites
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to occasionally lift or move objects up to 20 pounds
