The Senior Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial, public, and private construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, and subcontractor analyses. Responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, identifying scope, risks, and value engineering opportunities, and collaborating with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors throughout the bid process. The role involves soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes, preparing bid proposals, and participating in pre‑bid meetings and client presentations as needed.
The Senior Estimator will also assist in developing cost databases, refining estimating procedures, and mentoring junior estimating staff to support continuous improvement.
- Strong estimating and preconstruction skills, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation for commercial and public works projects.
- Proficiency with construction drawings and specifications, including the ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans.
- Experience with estimating and project management software (e.g., On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar), and solid MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and industry standards relevant to vertical and site development projects.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in budgeting and forecasting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in commercial construction; prior Senior Estimator or lead estimating experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Familiarity with public bidding processes at the federal, state, county, and municipal levels is highly.
