Position: PROJECT ENGINEER- Heavy Highway

The Project Engineer supports senior project staff in managing daily construction operations. This role assists with cost coding, procurement of materials, coordination and oversight of assigned personnel, and tracking labor productivity. The Project Engineer also supports schedule development and review, processes change orders, and performs additional duties as required to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction methods and workmanship to ensure roadways, bridges, and related highway structures are built in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Participate in and contribute to jobsite meetings.
  • Assist with cost coding and budget tracking.
  • Coordinate and order project materials and supplies.
  • Support the preparation and processing of change orders.
  • Assist with project scheduling and progress tracking.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of highway construction experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction management principles and processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate active construction sites safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach during inspections.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and heavy equipment.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on job sites.
