Job Summary
The Site Superintendent oversees the daily site activities of construction projects from start to finish, coordinating scheduling, budgeting, quality, safety, and client communications. Reporting to the Project Manager of Mountain Point, the role serves federal facilities across the Space Coast area, FL and the Southern United States, including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, the Carolinas, and Florida. Responsibilities cover building renovations, repairs, new construction, pre‑construction services, IT and physical security upgrades, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, demolition, and specific civil and utility infrastructure such as potable water, storm, and sewer systems.
The Superintendent is the prime point of contact with the Government contracting official on‑site and ensures compliance with contract documents, safety regulations, quality and security requirements to maximize productivity. The position also serves as Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) on federal contracts when required and supports the Contractor Health and Safety Program in accordance with EM 385‑1‑1. A Construction Quality Management certification from the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is required, and the Superintendent will coordinate with the Quality Control Manager.
Other duties may include performing additional tasks as assigned and covering across functional areas to balance peak workloads.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Be the primary contact with the Government until acceptance.
- Be at the job site at all times when work is taking place and must have full authority to act for the Contractor.
- Attend and participate in pre‑construction progress, weekly coordination, and subcontractor meetings.
- Support project health and safety plans in accordance with OSHA guidelines and EM 385‑1‑1.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and uphold a policy of courtesy and superior customer service, exercising tact, good manners, and diplomacy.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of commercial construction industry practices and standards.
- Accomplish construction project results by understanding the scope of work, working with the Project Manager to contract with subcontractors, coordinating and scheduling trades, resolving issues, and reaching a timely conclusion.
- Supervise the coordination and input as needed with contractors providing services and infrastructure.
- Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
- Oversee day‑to‑day field activities.
- Assist and fill in for Project Managers when they are unavailable.
- Assist subcontractors with Federal procedures and rules.
- Manage subcontractor base access issues.
- Supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
- Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings.
- Prioritize work and supervise day‑to‑day crew tasks.
- Effectively lead a crew on schedule while monitoring quality of work.
- Follow plans and guidelines while conducting regular safety meetings.
- Enforce all client‑required safety policies and procedures.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including crew member discipline and documentation.
- Conduct pre‑final inspections, establish a punch list if required, and ensure all deficiencies are corrected.
- Coordinate final inspections with government contracting and civil engineer personnel.
- Submit as‑builts for finished projects.
- Manage close‑out processes and warranty responses with the project manager.
Primary work supports construction efforts on U.S. Government contracts at military installations. Site Superintendents typically work full‑time in varied settings, including offices, facilities, or construction sites. The work involves considerable travel and fieldwork with exposure to dangerous or stressful situations, requiring safety equipment to minimize illness or injury risks.
Employees must work with minimal supervision, be flexible, cooperative, take initiative, work well under pressure, plan, be resourceful, well organized, maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, and keep a professional and polite attitude in accordance with Company standards.
