position summary

  • the senior project manager, design & engineering is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of medium- to large-scale capital improvement projects seaworld orlando, aquatica orlando, and discovery cove.
  • this role manages capital projects from concept development through construction completion while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with operational needs.
  • the senior project manager also supports the director of design & engineering with large-scale capital projects and provides project leadership across cross‑functional teams, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • the ideal candidate has strong experience managing design and construction projects in a fast‑paced environment, coordinating with contractors and consultants, and balancing multiple priorities while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
essential duties and responsibilities
  • serve as project manager for capital projects ranging from $1 million to $10 million.
  • support the director of design & engineering with large‑scale capital projects exceeding $10 million.
  • manage multiple concurrent capital improvement and infrastructure projects from planning through project closeout.
  • develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, procurement plans, and project execution plans.
  • coordinate and oversee architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout all phases of a project.
  • lead project meetings and communicate project status, risks, budget updates, schedules, and timelines to stakeholders and leadership.
  • provide regular project status reporting to the director and vp of design & engineering.
  • review drawings, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, bids, scopes of work, and contractor proposals.
  • participate in contractor selection, bid reviews, contract administration, change‑order management, and project closeout activities.
  • conduct regular site walks to monitor project progress, quality, safety compliance, and contractor performance.
  • support permitting, bidding, construction administration, vendor coordination, and project closeout activities.
  • collaborate with park operations, maintenance, safety, environmental, legal, sourcing, finance, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • coordinate project activities within an active operating environment while minimizing impacts to guests, ambassadors, and park operations.
  • track and manage project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and project timelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • ensure compliance with company standards, applicable codes, permitting requirements, project controls, policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • support capital planning and forecasting activities as assigned.
required qualifications
  • bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or a related technical field.
  • minimum 7 years of project management or construction management experience.
  • experience leading the design and construction of medium- to large‑scale capital projects valued at $1 million or greater.
  • experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a commercial, hospitality, entertainment, industrial, municipal, or similar environment.
  • working knowledge of construction processes, budgeting, scheduling, permitting, procurement, and project delivery methods.
  • experience coordinating contractors, consultants, vendors, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, and project budgets.
  • strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • proficiency with microsoft office applications.
preferred qualifications
  • experience in theme parks, hospitality, attractions, entertainment venues, resorts, or other guest‑facing environments.
  • experience managing projects in occupied or operational facilities.
  • experience supporting large‑scale capital projects valued at $10 million or greater.
