Site Manager, Construction Manager/ Foreman
Steve Black Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects throughout Central Florida.
We are looking for a hands-on jobsite leader who takes ownership of the work, communicates effectively with subcontractors and the project team, and understands that successful construction requires strong attention to schedule, safety, quality and accountability.
This is not an office-based position. The Superintendent will be responsible for the daily execution and coordination of assigned projects from mobilization through completion.
The PositionThe Superintendent is responsible for managing the daily activities of the jobsite and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspections and company personnel.
The successful candidate will be able to look at a project and answer:
What needs to happen today? What needs to happen this week? What could prevent us from finishing on time?
Key ResponsibilitiesJobsite Management
- Manage daily construction activities from mobilization through completion.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and other trades.
- Maintain a clean, organized and productive jobsite.
- Monitor manpower, productivity and material availability.
- Coordinate deliveries and site logistics.
Scheduling
- Maintain the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Develop and manage short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate trade sequencing.
- Identify potential delays before they affect the project.
- Work with subcontractors to correct schedule problems and maintain production.
Plans & Construction
- Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Identify field conflicts and constructability issues.
- Coordinate RFIs and field questions.
- Verify that work is being performed according to plans and specifications.
- Coordinate required inspections.
Subcontractor Management
- Establish clear expectations with subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and workmanship.
- Hold subcontractors accountable for schedule and quality commitments.
- Address problems promptly and professionally.
- Maintain productive working relationships with trade partners.
Safety
- Maintain a safe jobsite.
- Enforce company safety requirements and applicable OSHA standards.
- Conduct or participate in safety meetings.
- Correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Never sacrifice safety for schedule.
Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship throughout construction.
- Identify deficiencies early.
- Coordinate corrections and rework.
- Maintain quality standards through project completion.
- Manage punch list and closeout activities.
Communication & Documentation
- Maintain accurate daily reports.
- Document jobsite conditions and progress.
- Communicate schedule, safety, quality and field issues to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors.
- Communicate problems early rather than allowing them to become surprises.
