Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced MEP General Superintendent for a direct-hire opportunity in Orlando, FL. This position is responsible for the overall field direction and installation of large-scale commercial MEP construction projects, including safety, quality, labor productivity, manpower planning, trade coordination, and project execution. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of superintendent experience on commercial MEP projects valued at $10 million or more, strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems, and demonstrated success leading complex field operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall field leadership for assigned commercial MEP construction projects.
- Ensure installations meet project plans, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and contracted scope.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily onsite construction activities.
- Interpret HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and related construction drawings for craft installation.
- Review project submittals and installation/operations manuals for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate installation activities between trades and monitor subcontractor progress.
- Identify potential scope changes, schedule impacts, and change-order opportunities.
- Plan manpower requirements and participate in hiring and staffing field labor.
- Monitor labor productivity, production tracking, and field performance.
- Review and approve timesheets and maintain four-week look-ahead schedules.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
- Maintain responsibility for field quality and identify installation, constructability, and coordination issues.
- Review material take-offs, tool requisitions, and equipment rental requests to support field productivity.
- Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with project management and the general contractor.
- Schedule required inspections with governing authorities.
- Attend cost reviews, job reviews, coordination meetings, and other project meetings.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, project management, and field personnel.
- Support project leadership with scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and operational planning.
- 10+ years of superintendent or field leadership experience on large commercial MEP construction projects.
- Experience managing MEP projects valued at $10 million or more.
- Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and MEP construction.
- Ability to read and interpret HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and construction drawings.
- Experience with manpower planning, subcontractor coordination, labor productivity, and project scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and commercial construction safety practices.
- Understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, and field installation requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Orlando, FL with occasional overtime.
- State Mechanical Contractor or HVAC Contractor License.
- Medical Gas Certification.
- Experience with commercial construction projects valued at $20 million or more.
- Experience with prefabrication or modular construction.
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
