The Customer Tax Exemption Specialist plays a key role in supporting customers by reviewing and processing sales tax exemption certificates with accuracy and efficiency. This is a customer service–focused position responsible for verifying documentation, applying tax exemptions to customer accounts, and resolving tax-related inquiries while following clearly defined policies and guidelines.
ResponsibilitiesReview, validate, and process customer sales tax exemption certificates according to established procedures and compliance guidelines.
Communicate with customers via phone, email, or ticketing systems to assist with tax exemption questions, documentation needs, and account inquiries.
Ensure exemptions are accurately applied to customer accounts and update records as needed.
Monitor certificate expiration dates and support customers in submitting updated information.
Research and resolve basic tax-related issues by referencing internal resources and state requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams (Billing, Customer Support, Compliance) to resolve escalated or complex cases.
Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail while processing documentation and entering data.
Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional communication at all times.
Education & Experience Requirements
Strong attention to detail and ability to verify documents with accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow structured guidelines and processes.
Comfortable working with customer-facing inquiries in a service-oriented role.
Basic computer skills and ability to navigate multiple systems.
Experience in customer service, data entry, or administrative support.
Familiarity with tax exemption certificates or sales tax regulations is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Pay Details: $21.27 per hour
