Dental Office is excited to announce a full-time job opening for a Dental Assistant. This is a non-remote opportunity requiring the assistant's presence in our family-oriented clinic. As a professional face of our clinic, you will play an essential role in maintaining and enhancing patient relationships by providing outstanding support to the dentist and clinical team.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
- Take, develop and mount dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
- Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
- Communicate with patients and suppliers (scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
- Help with office management and organization procedures.
- Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments.
- Participate in the provision of oral health educational, clinical, and preventative programs.
- Document patient dental history and treatment records with great accuracy.
- Ensure all confidential patient records are handled according to regulations.
- Conduct patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse.
- Address and manage patient fears and anxieties and assist in managing medical and dental emergencies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduates of accredited dental assisting programs preferred.
- Current Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
- Previous work experience as a dental assistant.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy, dental procedures, and dental terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and the dentist.
- Familiarity with dental software and computer programs.
- Ability to follow proper channels of communication.
- Compliance with all health and safety regulations and practices.
- Physical ability to perform dental procedures; good manual dexterity is a must.
- Attention to detail to maintain accurate patient records and ensuring the correct operation of equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to continuing education in dentistry and dental assistance to keep up with the latest innovations and practices.
