Assistant Manager, Architecture and Engineering Design

Job Summary

Assists the Architecture & Engineering Design Manager with oversight and management of the Architectural and Engineering design and construction administration effort for the assigned project. Assists the Architecture & Engineering Design Manager with the development of drawings and sketches required to design and plan new Theme Parks venues including the review of the Architectural and Engineering designs from outside firms. Provides drawings, sketches, and solutions for the contractor during the construction administration phase.

• Provide drawings and sketches in support of the Facility Design Manager and the project team, completing architectural drawings in AutoCAD. Deliver electronic 3‑D modeling services in Sketch Up or other formats that accurately and clearly depict the architectural design intent. Assemble documentation into a presentation format using Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint, or other digital formats.
• Monitor construction in the field, identifying and resolving discrepancies between the construction drawings and the design intent. Participate in the management and response to requests for information, assisting the Facility Design Manager with evaluation of vendor responses and preparation of modification documents. Provide clarifications and in‑field solutions to the contractor during construction using drawings, sketches, and 3‑D electronic models.
• Participate in the management of Architecture and Engineering vendors throughout the design and construction phases, reviewing drawings to ensure the creative design intent is maintained by vendors and other outside parties.
• Attend weekly project, contractor, architecture, and engineering vendor meetings. Coordinate between the architecture and engineering vendors and the ride/show vendors, including development of all preliminary final facility impacts.
• Provide aesthetic design, color boards, sketching, and drafting needed to convey the design intent to outside architectural and engineering firms.
• Provide drawings, program, and other design/technical information required to support the development of the architecture and engineering scope of work and request for proposal documents, assisting the Facility Design Manager with responses to questions and clarifications during the proposal process.
• Assist the Facility Design Manager with the management of the architecture/engineering schedule for facility design and monitor vendor schedules to ensure milestone delivery dates are met in a timely manner.
• Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is required. Master’s degree in the same fields is preferred. Licensed Architect or Engineer credentials are also acceptable.

5+ years of turn‑key project experience within the entertainment/theme park industry, or 5+ years of relevant design and construction/project management experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Hand and computer drawing and drafting skills required. Experience with AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of forecasting and budget allocation techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Familiarity with international (expatriate) assignments is highly desirable.
