Overview
The Department of Cardiovascular Services at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, is seeking a Director of Cardiac Anesthesia to guide services in Jacksonville and Orlando. The ideal candidate will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of the clinical department in collaboration with the Director of the Nemours Cardiac Center, Florida, and in alignment with the Nemours mission and strategic goals. This leader will help build the Cardiac Anesthesia Program, contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans and ensuring policies, programs, and initiatives support the department's mission, vision, and values.
This physician leader will inspire Nemours standards of behavior and facilitate collaboration across the Department of Cardiovascular Services, Nemours Children's Hospital, Nemours clinical divisions, and hospital partners within Florida to ensure the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership for the Cardiac Anesthesia Division, including participation in clinical activities and supervision of division members.
- Monitor and facilitate clinical services, track performance, and ensure high-quality care, patient satisfaction, and industry-leading outcomes.
- Support academic, clinical, research, and administrative activities related to pediatric cardiac anesthesia in alignment with the Nemours Cardiac Center's mission and strategic direction.
- Collaborate with the Director, Nemours Cardiac Center-Florida and the Chair, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, in guiding program development and strategic initiatives.
- MD/DO or equivalent degree with ABA board certification and subspecialty certification in pediatric anesthesia.
- Experience and/or additional training in pediatric cardiac anesthesia.
- Unrestricted Florida medical license or eligibility for one.
- Academic leadership experience commensurate with qualifications for a faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida is home to a nationally recognized pediatric cardiac center offering comprehensive care for congenital and acquired heart conditions. The center integrates clinical services, research, and innovation to deliver exceptional outcomes and family-centered care. The center provides fetal cardiology, pediatric and adult congenital cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure management, and complex cardiac surgery, with an annual volume of more than 125 pediatric heart surgeries.
Outcomes are tracked and benchmarked against national standards to ensure safety and continuous improvement.
The center is distinguished by advanced imaging and diagnostic capabilities, including 3D echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and ICAEL-accredited echocardiography laboratories. A 3D printing lab supports surgical planning, simulation, and family education. The Cardiovascular Services Research Department supports basic, translational, and clinical investigations with a CAP-accredited biobank and participation in national registries and research networks.
Our heart center emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration among surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, imaging specialists, anesthesiologists, and allied health professionals to provide seamless care from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood.
