The Role

The RSMA Manager is responsible for the management and execution of the day-to-day responsibilities of the USTA Racquet Sports Management Apprenticeship (RSMA). This role requires an organized leader who can manage the program s curriculum, industry partnerships, faculty recruitment, coach development, and management of two distinct cohorts of apprentices. The RSMA Manager plays a crucial role in preparing emerging Racquet Sport Leaders with comprehensive skills and knowledge in the tennis industry.

Responsibilities
  • Curriculum:
    Manage the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum for the RSMA program. Ensure that the curriculum covers topics including tennis expertise, complementary racquet sports, leadership development, facility operations, program development, marketing, financial management, and leadership skills.
  • Learning Management System:
    Manage and maintain the learning management system used by the RSMA. Create and grade assignments, projects, and exams. Assist apprentices in staying in good standing with the program.
  • Industry Partnerships Management:
    Maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the tennis industry, including professional associations, clubs, organizations, and industry experts. Collaborate with partners to provide insights, guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, and real-world experiences for participants.
  • Classroom facilitation:
    Facilitate select RSMA topics and manage on-court evaluation of apprentices by collaborating with the Director of Racquet Sports and Head Pros.
  • Faculty Recruitment:
    Recruit experienced faculty with expertise in tennis, complementary racquet sports, and management. Select faculty who can deliver the curriculum, guide discussions, provide mentorship, and bring real-world industry experience. Manage facilitation expectations with guest speakers and coach them on best teaching practices.
  • Practical Experiences Management:
    Incorporate practical experiences, case studies, and project-based learning. Create opportunities for participants to apply knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios, preparing them for Racquet Sport Leadership roles. Manage and coordinate field trips or site visits.
  • Networking and Professional Development:
    Organize networking events, conferences, and workshops to connect participants with industry professionals. Encourage engagement in professional networks and attendance at industry events.
  • Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
    Implement an effective evaluation system to monitor program effectiveness and gather feedback from participants, faculty, and industry partners. Use feedback to improve the program to stay relevant and aligned with industry needs.
  • Alumni Engagement:
    Manage an alumni network to foster ongoing connections and support among graduates. Encourage alumni to contribute by mentoring current participants and assisting with industry connections.
  • Apprentice Selection & Onboarding:
    Oversee the annual apprentice recruitment process, including managing applications, coordinating interviews, conducting selection and admission procedures, and facilitating onboarding for each cohort.
  • Stay current on industry trends, challenges, and desired competencies for effective racquet sports management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor s degree and/or Master s degree in a related field
  • Experience in curriculum development and program management preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the tennis industry and racquet sports management
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders
  • Ability to identify industry trends and adapt program content accordingly
  • Experience in program evaluation and continuous improvement
