The School of Biological and Physical Sciences fosters an appreciation for the wonders of science while preparing students for meaningful careers and lifelong learning. Our faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, valuing both the technical and human dimensions of education. The school encompasses the disciplines of Astronomy, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Nutrition, Plant Science, and Physics.
Faculty Responsibilities- Full‑time instructional faculty are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, which includes the following responsibilities:
- Teaching
- Course Preparation
- Student Engagement
- Professional Development
- Institutional Service
- Fall: 15 contact hours
- Spring: 15 contact hours
- Summer: 6 contact hours
Note: A contact hour refers to one hour of direct instructional time with students per week. For example, a course that meets three hours per week counts as 3 contact hours. The length of a contract is in accordance with the academic calendar.
Position Requirements- A master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution with a major in earth science, geology or related area, or 18 graduate semester hours in earth science, geology, or related subfield and a master’s degree by the official start date (August 2026).
- Position involves face‑to‑face instruction, with occasional opportunities to teach in mixed‑mode and online formats.
- Must establish and maintain Florida residency if selected.
- Masters: $67,437 – $83,387 per year
- Master’s +30: $72,267 – $88,217 per year
- Doctorate: $77,097 – $93,047 per year
