Overview

Valencia College is seeking an Assistant Director, Student Development, at the wonderful Osceola Campus.

In this position, you will support the planning, implementation, and assessment of co-curricular programs that promote student engagement and leadership. This role provides campus-based leadership and supervision of Student Development initiatives, including oversight of a campus-based programming budget, and exercises independent judgment in matters of significance.

Key Qualifications & Expectations
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Leadership experience in higher education (student affairs, housing, student activities, or related areas).
  • Experience planning and delivering student engagement initiatives and events, including large-scale or nonprofit-style programming.
  • Budget management experience preferred, including oversight of a programming budget or similar funds.
  • Ability to lead and supervise professional, support, and student staff in a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and organizational skills.

  • This position will operate in a Primarily Onsite environment. The role involves occasional travel, attendance at meetings and campus events.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides campus-based leadership and supervision for the development, implementation, and assessment of campus co-curricular programs, services, and initiatives designed to engage students within the Student Development Program.
  • Assists in leadership, coordination, communication, and implementation of college-wide programs, services, and initiatives. Provides ongoing review and assessment of college-wide and campus-based programs to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student engagement.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and administration to plan, design, organize, and implement services and programs that support student learning and development. Evaluates efficiency of the programs and identifies patterns and areas of concerns to develop alternate courses of action; obtains and analyzes data to streamline processes that support department strategic goals within budget and time constraints.
  • Supports college-wide Student Development through the review, revision, and management of internal/external Student Development communication and marketing platforms such as websites, social media, and student engagement online portals.
