QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Eligible or possess Florida (or any State) Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Computer Science courses.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and administration.
Other Requirements
  • Possess effective classroom management skills as it relates to safe learning environment, discipline, and assessment.
  • Discover and develop special talents of students in the field of Computer Science to help them to reach their highest potential in class and extracurricular activities.
  • Prepare each student to meet the Florida Department of Education Computer Science Course Standards.
  • Have the ability to be flexible in working with students at all developmental levels.
  • Have skills in human relations and conflict management.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of Computer Science courses at 6th - 12th-grade levels, including AP Computer Science, and introductory course based in Web Development, Coding, Microsoft office bundle series, problem-solving, algorithms, data structures, data collection, and analysis, interacting with remote information.
  • Skillfully work with students of all backgrounds and levels of academic performance.
  • Prepare and deliver rigorous, engaging, and project-based instruction to students in grades 9-12 using Computer Science curriculum.
  • Utilize the Computer Science Curriculum and conduct the required projects and instruction using the necessary software.
  • Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Teach courses in related the Computer Science to the students, utilizing course of study adopted by the District, FL State and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
  • Develop lesson plans to demonstrate the Computer Science course concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids, accommodations which ESE and section 504 students need.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
  • Design learning activities that will relate the Computer Science to the physical world.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students; keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
  • Ensure students’ academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents.
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems.
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.
