The Opportunity
The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries invites applications for two full-time, 12-month, non‑tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Librarian. Curious, creative, and forward‑thinking professionals will serve as an Embedded Librarian for academic programs in the College of Arts & Humanities (CAH) or the College of Health Professions & Sciences (CHPS) on UCF’s main campus in Orlando, Florida.
Under the management of the Head of Research Engagement unit within the Academic Engagement division, these librarians will collaborate with faculty and students to advance teaching, learning, and research. Responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative strategies that support scholarly and instructional goals. Professional service and scholarship are expected. Faculty members are evaluated annually by the Associate Dean and receive operational supervision from the Unit Head.
Responsibilities- Provides robust research support to students and faculty of CAH or CHPS, including serving as embedded librarian for campus‑based courses as requested; facilitating virtual or face‑to‑face research consultation sessions; and serving as an active partner in locating and assessing library resources essential for teaching and research.
- Collaborates with faculty to provide library instruction to CAH or CHPS students, including providing virtual and face‑to‑face library instruction; and developing and maintaining asynchronous digital instructional resources.
- Conducts outreach to CAH or CHPS students and faculty regarding library services, including creation of guides and video tutorials of relevant library resources; planning and facilitating workshops, webinars, and tabling events; and promotion of collections essential for teaching and research.
- Implements innovative practices and ideas based on emerging trends in educational fields and in academic libraries.
Master’s degree in library and/or information science, or terminal degree in relevant field, from an accredited institution at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications- Degree in an art, English, history, or health professions related field.
- Familiarity with evidence synthesis and systematic review processes.
- Experience with innovative teaching and learning technologies.
Assistant Librarian salary starts at $60,000.
