The 6th – 12th Grade Teacher is the instructional leader of a classroom of 9‑18 students. Each teacher must believe that “all children can learn” and possess the commitment and knowledge to differentiate instruction, allowing all students to develop to their fullest potential.
Job Responsibilities- Follow and apply all Danielson instructional framework protocols to provide best instructional practices and ensure learning for all students, incorporating planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities.
- Participate as an integral member of the IEP team, creating drafts for IEP goals utilizing data collected from the classroom, parents, therapists, and other IEP team members.
- Collect and use data to determine the effects of learning experiences on students’ development and approaches to learning, adapting instruction as needed.
- Maintain a portfolio with samples of students’ work, record observed progress, use observational data to plan individualized and differentiated instructional strategies, and appropriately follow Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Clearly communicate with families regarding students’ progress, actively involve family members in planning strategies for enhancing progress, and maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with families.
- Participate in team meetings, professional learning, and school‑based activities.
- Maintain a classroom that reflects discovery and use of materials, is clean and well‑maintained, uses universal precautions, and responds quickly and appropriately to accidents or incidents with documentation.
- Demonstrate attention to punctuality, attendance, deadlines for IEP, Individual Family Support Plans, progress reports, testing/assessment, compliance with policies and procedures, Code of Ethics, and exercises appropriate professional judgment in line with Florida Educators Accomplished Practices.
- Ensure and provide basic caregiving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for students.
- Apply local and state approved protocols integrating technology and making necessary modifications to media and technology to accommodate all students’ needs.
- Integrate art into curriculum and learning experiences, including necessary modifications to accommodate all students’ needs.
- Provide cultural experiences for students and staff.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QualificationsEducation and Training (or equivalent):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Elementary, Exceptional Education, or subject area. Florida Statement of Eligibility or Professional Teaching Certificate. Elementary Education (or subject area), ESE certification and ESOL Endorsement (Required after 3rd year).
Minimum Experience:
5 years classroom teaching experience with students with disabilities.
