Job Summary
Lockheed Martin is seeking an HH-60W Special Mission Aviator (SMA) Instructor located at Aviano AB (AAB), Italy. The role involves providing HH-60W SMA instruction to active‑duty aircrew in systems, operations, tactics, techniques, and procedures across classroom, simulator, and static aircraft on the flight line. The instructor will assist Instructional System Designers as a Subject Matter Expert in developing classroom and simulator lessons, courseware, student and instructor guides, and other training media.
Additionally, the instructor may perform related duties as directed by the Site Lead, Kirtland AFB Site Manager, and Interim Contract Support Manager. US citizenship is required.
• Provide HH‑60W SMA instruction to active‑duty aircrew across classroom, simulator, and flight line static aircraft.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert for Instructional System Design content development.
• Perform other duties as directed by command leadership.
- Within U.S. military aircraft within previous 2 years or within previous 4 years if 11 years of military operational flying duty at hiring.
- Minimum of 1,500 total hours of Special Mission Aviator (SMA) time on U.S. military aircraft, with at least 500 hours of instructor time.
- Familiarity with and capability to instruct required crew positions.
- Working knowledge of all current MAJCOM regulations.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write in English for effective communication with aircrew.
- Eligibility for and completion of a government security investigation, with access to classified information.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance prior to starting the position.
- U.S. citizenship required for security clearance.
- Experience as a USAF Special Mission Aviator on the HH‑60G or HH‑60W.
- Flight instructor experience on Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs).
- Flight instruction in Day/Night Tactical Operations, Remote Operations, Contact/Emergency Procedures, Aerial Refueling, Weapon Employment, Water Operations, Ship Board Operations, Pre‑Flight, Weapons Pre‑Flight, loading/unloading, and Alternate Insertion and Extraction operations.
- Familiarity with SMA crew duties and responsibilities.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
The position requires a government security clearance. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and obtain an Interim DoD Secret clearance before commencing work.
