The Opportunity

The College of Medicine (COM) invites applications for the position of associate professor or professor of medicine and Associate Dean for Students. This senior educational leadership role reports to the senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education (SADME) and is responsible for promoting a supportive, student‑centered learning environment that strengthens engagement, professional development, well‑being, and academic success for students in the M.D. program.

The Associate Dean provides strategic leadership for programs and services supporting medical students across both the pre‑clinical and clinical phases of the curriculum. This includes initiatives focused on academic success, career development and advising, student activities and organizations, student well‑being, and student financial services.

The Associate Dean for Students serves as a key architect of the medical student experience within the College of Medicine, shaping a culture that supports learners academically, professionally, and personally. This leader plays a central role in cultivating an environment where medical students feel valued, empowered, and equipped to thrive throughout their medical education journey.

UCF COM has 120 medical students per class, serves more than 3000 undergraduate and graduate students, and partners with HCA Healthcare to sponsor residency and fellowship programs. As a key member of the college’s educational leadership team, the Associate Dean will contribute to advancing the educational mission of the college with excellence, collaboration, and integrity. The position collaborates extensively with college leadership, including the Associate Dean for Medical Education and Department Chairs, to advance the college’s missions in an integrated manner.

This is a non‑tenure earning or tenure‑earning position and is expected to be a partial FTE administrative appointment (0.8 FTE), with the remaining effort allocated to teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, or other academic responsibilities consistent with the selected candidate’s background and departmental needs. Tenure track candidates are welcome to apply but must be eligible for tenure upon hire.
