We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and mission-driven Education Specialist to join our Education Team. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact by developing and leading dynamic, hands‑on educational programs both at our beautiful Farm Campus and out in the community.
Position SummaryAs the Education Specialist, you will help design and facilitate STEAM-aligned educational programming for K-12 students and community members. You’ll create innovative curricula and lead interactive experiences that connect people to food, farming, and sustainability—on-site at 4
Roots Farm Campus and off-site at schools, partner farms, and gardens. This role reports to the Director of Programs and is full-time, exempt.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, agriculture, education, communication, or a related field — or 4+ years of experience in formal or informal education settings (e.g. schools, farms, zoos, aquariums).
- Teaching experience with K-12 students.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in Florida weather, and stand for extended periods.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Preferred:
- Experience in facilitating informal outdoor education programs.
- Gardening, farming, or agriculture experience.
- Familiarity with Florida State Standards.
- Project management and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new platforms.
- Self-motivated team player with a growth mindset.
- Enthusiastic, professional, and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
- Design and lead engaging, hands‑on lessons and activities for field trips, camps, workshops, and special programs.
- Facilitate farm tours, educational outreach, and community‑based lessons for all age groups.
- Create curricula, student materials, and evaluation tools that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with educational standards.
- Collaborate with schools and community partners as an educational resource.
- Assist in maintaining learning gardens and supporting special events.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with community partners, guests, staff, and volunteers.
This role is approximately 50% outdoor fieldwork and 50% indoor planning and development. Works a full-time Monday through Friday schedule, with some evening and weekend work required (based on program needs and special events).
