The Special Populations Compliance Support Specialist supports the Miami-Dade Region in ensuring compliance, instructional quality, and program integrity for both Special Education (ESE) and English Language Learner (ESOL) programs. This role works collaboratively with school administrators, staff, and regional leadership to promote equitable outcomes for all special populations students.
Responsibilities- ESE Compliance
- Coordinates data collection as it relates to Special Education programs.
- Assists with coordinating and monitoring instructional programming for Special Education students.
- Facilitates leadership development of current and potential administrators on the implementation of Special Education compliance.
- Assists with pre-FTE reviews and required follow-ups.
- Collaborates with and assists staff to ensure accurate reimbursement of funds and compliance with special grant opportunities related to educating Special Education students.
- Advocates, facilitates, and monitors Special Education student performance.
- Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitors the student record system to ensure that appropriate information is kept current in student record folders as it relates to Special Education.
- Assists in Pre and Post Site Visit/Audit/Renewal reviews.
- ESOL Compliance
- Coordinates data collection as it relates to ESOL programs.
- Assists with coordinating and monitoring instructional programming for ESOL students.
- Facilitates leadership development of current and potential administrators on the implementation of ESOL programming and compliance.
- Assists with pre-FTE reviews and required follow-ups.
- Collaborates with and assists staff to ensure accurate reimbursement of funds and compliance with special grant opportunities related to educating ESOL students.
- Advocates, facilitates, and monitors ESOL student performance.
- Assists in the development of English Language Learner (ELL) plans.
- Monitors the student record system to ensure that appropriate information is kept current in student record folders as it relates to ESOL.
- Assists in Pre and Post Site Visit/Audit/Renewal reviews.
- Knowledge of Special Education (ESE) and ESOL compliance requirements, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with IEP development, ELL plan development, and student record management systems.
- Understanding of FTE review processes and special education funding structures.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor data collection across multiple program areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate professional development and leadership training for administrators and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across school and regional levels.
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred (Special Education, ESOL, Education Administration, or related field). - Experience working with Special Education and/or ESOL student populations.
- Demonstrated experience in program coordination, compliance monitoring, or instructional support.
- Familiarity with IEP processes, ELL plans, and student record systems preferred.
- Ability to travel frequently 80-100% of the work week, between school sites in the Miami-Dade region.
