Service Technical Training Instructor

General Summary

Under the supervision of the Training Center Manager, the Service Technical Training Instructor improves Kia dealership technician vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First-Time performance through the effective delivery of performance-based technical training courses. These courses are delivered in the training centers or through distance learning.

• 1st Priority (65%) – Prepare for and facilitate delivery of technical training courses to improve vehicle repair skills and FRFT performance. Monitor all classes to ensure safety and administer enrollment and completion records.
• 2nd Priority (10%) – Prepare the training center, vehicles, and tools/equipment prior to course delivery, return the environment to its original state after training, and manage distance learning coordination.
• 3rd Priority (10%) – Maintain inventory and condition of training center resources, ensuring safety and maintenance standards are met.
• 4th Priority (10%) – Participate as a subject matter expert in developing technical training curriculum, validating content, and supporting pilot and Train‑The‑Trainer sessions.
• 5th Priority (5%) – Continuously improve automotive technical and facilitation skills to meet or exceed Kia University standards.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Automotive Technology degree preferred.

• Strong working knowledge and experience delivering performance-based technical training curriculum.
• Working knowledge of dealership service operations; technician work experience preferred.
• 5+ years teaching experience in a technical environment (high school, college, adult education, or manufacturer/distributor).
• 3+ years experience in the automotive industry preferred.

• ASE Master Automobile Technician (A1–A8), Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification (L1), Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification (L3).
• Valid driver’s license with a responsible driving record.
• Availability for additional hours, including weekends or holidays.
• Occasional domestic and/or international travel required.

• Strong communication and training facilitation skills using adult learning techniques and performance-based methods.
• Ability to analyze vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic strategies with moderate complexity.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with distance learning platforms.
• Strong prioritization and time‑management skills to complete assignments within schedule while supporting regional and corporate operations.

$74,859.00 – $ (subject to individual factors such as qualifications, experience, and education).
