Training Instructor / Specialist
Position Title: Instructor, Advanced Manufacturing
Location: Kissimmee, FL 34744 - Osceola Campus
Salary: $55,118 per year
Employment Type: Full‑Time Staff, Exempt, P1‑Staff
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm; occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Work Arrangement: Fully on‑site at Valencia College with flexible schedule if appropriate.
Temporary Position: Grant‑funded with tentative end date of June 30, 2028.
Responsibilities- Build a positive and impactful student experience by creating an inclusive, engaging, safe, supportive, and effective learning environment that prepares students for the workforce.
- Contribute to the curriculum development process by developing, evaluating, and refining curriculum to meet industry needs.
- Support incumbent training for partners by offering training solutions, developing materials, and providing instruction.
- Effectively deliver content through dynamic instruction, including hands‑on skills training, ensuring the proper balance of theory and relevant activities to support mastery of skills.
- Provide students with timely and constructive feedback on their progress, including evaluation of mastery of the course content and career applications.
- Manage student behavior and engage in intervention strategies aimed at student development, retention, and engagement.
- Remain consistently available to students for instructional support outside of the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with program leadership regarding student achievements, concerns, and/or issues.
- Engage in professional development and growth, fulfilling annual performance plans and as required for certification, staying current on industry trends by networking with employer partners, collaborating with colleagues, and participating on advisory boards.
- Partner with the Recruiting and Job Placement Team on recruiting and placement activities, developing relationships with new hiring partners, and seeking internship and employment opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Education or training in or related to the specific field of instruction/courses taught.
- Industry credentials or certifications directly related to accelerated skill courses taught.
- Work or field experience directly related to accelerated skill courses taught.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and ability to operate college vehicles as required.
- Experience in safety‑oriented semiconductor optics instruction.
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson‑planning for diverse student populations.
- Semiconductor and optics fabrication and optical assembly experience.
- Photonics and laser safety experience.
- Instructional experience in accelerated skills training or a related vocational field.
- Experience creating and deploying student engagement and retention strategies.
- CNC machine operation.
- Microchip cleanroom practices.
- Pneumatic technology experience.
- Electronics theory experience.
- Certifications in related fields of semiconductors, optics, and photonics.
Candidate should possess expertise in semiconductors and their role in optoelectronics, knowledge of optics fabrication, optical assembly, photonics, and fiber optics, and experience teaching adult learners in a hands‑on setting.
General Working ConditionsJob operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. Employees routinely use standard office equipment and may be exposed to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, or physical hazards, requiring basic safety precautions and any required personal protective equipment. Typical physical demands include remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning, reaching, and lifting/moving objects weighing between 5–100 pounds.
Cognitive demands include discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
