Manager, Disability Services
Job Summary Provides direct services to assist students with disabilities in transitioning to the postsecondary environment; supports their introduction to college; progression to degree; and graduation transition with appropriate accommodations and modifications necessary to ensure equal access.

Salary Range
$56,653 - $63,735 per year
Responsibilities
Reviews disability documentation and determines reasonable and appropriate access accommodations while maintaining accuracy of student files and provides reports as necessary.Negotiates and arranges with all necessary parties to engage in the interactive process regarding uncommon academic accommodations.Manages all area personnel, both full and part-time staff, including student employees, through supervision, training, and evaluation of performance.Manages all area campus office coverage and assists to provide coverage to the regional campus locations.Collaborates effectively with faculty, staff, and administration to provide services for students with disabilities, including their necessary accommodations.Creates and assists students through the course substitution process for those qualified students.Serves on college committees at the request of the OSD Director.Actively participates in professional development activities as related to the position.Manages all aspects of campus orientation for students with disabilities and their parents.Provides support for students with disabilities who are on academic probation by helping students set realistic goals for improvement, and tracking student progress throughout the semester.Facilitates OSD outreach presentations for Valencia students, faculty, and staff; local service agencies; local middle and high schools; and other community groups.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required
Minimum Education Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience.
Required Minimum Experience
One year related experience.
Preferred Education & Field of Study
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Preferred field of study in Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Disability Services.
Preferred Type of Experience
Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably a two-year college.
Experience working with students with disabilities at a post-secondary level.
Knowledge,
Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of laws governing students with disabilities’ access to post-secondary education.Ability to navigate confidentiality among both students and employees, based on required practices.Knowledge of the unique needs of students with disabilities in the educational setting.Ability to independently initiate, develop, and implement programs.Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service.Computer skills proficiency in a Windows environment.Ability to travel to and from various locations, including campus sites.Ability to work in a flexible and fast‑paced environment; reason and exercise judgment and direction; and work efficiently and accurately without close supervision.Ability to work with the entire college community and meet the needs of all student populations.Ability to manage and lead a group of employees including student employees, part‑time and full‑time staff.General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5–15 pounds.
