UCPs instructional approach is designed to reach every learner through customized instruction, technology integration, art integration, and project-based learning. Each UCP campus has a unique community feel, with low student/instructor ratios and inclusive classrooms where children with and without disabilities learn and grow together.

Job Summary

The Early Childhood Montessori teacher is responsible for guiding young children through foundational academic, social, and emotional development using Montessori principles. The role focuses on creating a prepared, child-centered environment where students learn through hands-on activities, exploration, and self-directed work.

Job Responsibilities
  • Implement the Danielson Framework. Apply all components of the instructional framework to guide best teaching practices, classroom environment, and professional growth.
  • Apply Montessori approach within the inclusion classroom.
  • Use data to personalize instruction. Collect, analyze, and apply student performance and observational data to inform instruction and adapt learning experiences.
  • Develop and implement IEP goals. Collaborate with the IEP team to create, track, and adjust individualized education plans that reflect students' unique needs.
  • Foster family engagement. Maintain regular communication with families, involve them in planning strategies, and support student progress through partnership.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging classroom. Create an organized, discovery-based environment that supports active learning and complies with health and safety protocols.
  • Incorporate technology and arts. Integrate instructional technology and art-based learning into the curriculum, modifying content to accommodate all learners.
  • Demonstrate professionalism. Meet deadlines, attend required meetings and professional learning, follow policies, and uphold the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices.
  • Provide caregiving support. Assist students with basic health and safety needs using appropriate protocols.
  • Fulfill additional duties. Perform other responsibilities as assigned in support of student success and school initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Experience:

    • 1–3 years of teaching experience (including internship)
    • Preferred experience working with students with disabilities in an inclusive or mainstream setting
    • Preferred experience with project-based learning and instructional technology

    Education & Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Elementary Education or Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
    • Montessori Certification
    • Florida Statement of Eligibility or Professional Teaching Certificate in:
    • Required:

      Elementary Education (or PreK–Grade
      3)
    • ESE Certification Preferred
    • ESOL Endorsement Preferred
