Private School | Holistic + Functional Education | Waldorf Meets ABA
We’re a small, innovative private school serving neurodiverse students — including those with Autism and related developmental differences — through an integrated approach that blends Waldorf-inspired education with ABA strategies.
We are seeking a dedicated, flexible, and compassionate Special Education Teacher to work with students on the autism spectrum with higher support independence, helping prepare them for the world beyond the classroom.
About the Role:You’ll be leading 12 students ages 7-11, with 2 teaching assistants, through a rich and purposeful curriculum that balances functional academics with real‑world skill‑building. Instruction is hands‑on, creative, and individualized, with a focus on:
- Job readiness: task training, vocational exploration, and community-based instruction
- Independent living skills: cooking, budgeting, time management, daily routines
- Social development: communication, relationship-building, and emotional regulation
- Academic instruction: functional literacy, math, and problem‑solving adapted to real-life application
You’ll teach in small groups and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to support each student’s path to independence and success.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:- Has experience working with students with Autism or related developmental differences
- Understands (or is excited to learn about) Waldorf and ABA teaching methods
- Is passionate about transition-focused education and life skills development
- Is creative, collaborative, and comfortable thinking outside the box
- Holds a Special Education credential (or equivalent experience)
- Has or is currently working on a teaching license/certificate
- Hourly or salaried, depending on experience and preference
- Pay based on experience and qualifications
- Low student-to-teacher ratios for deeper connection and meaningful impact
- Supportive, team-driven culture that values curiosity, humor, and innovation
- Play a vital role in helping students build confidence, independence, and real-world readiness
- Be part of a school that values creativity over conformity, and connection over compliance
- Collaborate with a passionate team in a warm, respectful work environment
- Bring your unique gifts into a classroom that celebrates the individuality of every student
We're excited to meet an educator who’s ready to shape young lives and futures with heart, purpose, and creativity.
