Job Summary
Lead Behavior Coach maintains a behavior intervention schedule, collects behavior data, provides modeling of interventions to classroom staff, implements appropriate de‑escalation interventions, and creates a draft FBA/BIP for students with open consent for review from the Director of Behavior.
Job Responsibilities- Give guidance and advice for Tier 1 classroom/school wide interventions.
- Provide behavior related training and professional development for staff as identified or requested using behavior team materials to promote consistency.
- Maintain behavior intervention schedule for Tier1 and Tier2 consultations, modeling, and guidance for classroom staff, and Tier3 intensive interventions.
- Provide training and modeling for classroom staff to implement behavior interventions for students on MTSS Tier
2. - Offer strategies, advice, and modeling for classroom staff with students in small social skills groups in MTSS Tier
2. - Provide resources for classroom staff and students in MTSS Tier2 (token boards, behavior contracts, First/Then cards, incentives, reinforcers).
- Distribute data sheets and instructions for classroom staff to collect data on students in MTSS Tier
2. - Gather and graph target behavior data collected by classroom staff for MTSS Tier2 students.
- Identify the need for Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and assist in writing BIPs.
- Implement weekly social skills lessons for students in MTSS Tier
3. - Provide daily and weekly instruction and reinforcement for replacement behavior interventions for students in MTSS Tier
3. - Record data for social skills, target BIP behaviors, and replacement behaviors daily for MTSS Tier3 students.
- Graph target BIP behavior, replacement behavior, and social skills data weekly for MTSS Tier3 students.
- Report graphs and progress to specialists and teachers to develop appropriate strategies and plans for MTSS Tier3 students.
- Provide training and modeling for classroom staff to implement behavior interventions for students on MTSS Tier
3. - Implement appropriate de‑escalation or CPI procedures for C‑TEAM classroom calls (continuous/repetitive aggression, self‑injurious behavior, property destruction, elopement).
- Report student or employee injuries and/or physical restraints used during crisis calls immediately.
- Assist with morning and afternoon car line, building rapport with caregivers and reducing transition problem behavior.
- Complete FBA procedures including interviews, observations, data collection, and create a draft to send to the Director of Behavior for approval.
- Develop a draft BIP using FBA information and submit to the Director of Behavior for approval.
- Conduct and document MTSS meetings each month with classroom staff.
- Join IEP meetings to deliver FBA/BIP information to caregivers.
- Perform other specialist and general duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree (preferred) or equivalent college credits with additional work experience.
- High School Diploma with additional experience/behavior management training in lieu of a degree.
- Three years of experience supporting students’ behavior and social‑emotional needs in K‑5th grade classrooms.
- Demonstrated success in collecting behavior data and implementing individualized behavior plans.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience with crisis intervention and management; ability to complete and maintain a Blue Card CPI.
- Equivalent education or certification may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Experience supporting or implementing PBIS or other school‑wide programs.
