Salary Range: $55,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually
This position will require 25% travel within all Second Mile Schools
Job Summary
The Special Populations PD Specialist provides professional learning for school-based administration and special populations staff in compliance with all requirements related to special populations.
Essential functions- Provides professional development to school-based administrators and teachers on ESE/EC programming and compliance.
- Design and develop training program materials including project plans, outlines, presenter guides, participant materials and evaluations.
- Design, develop, implement, and scale ESE/EC professional development that is supported by research in best practices in education.
- Conduct regular meetings focusing on implementation of the professional learning model to ensure each ESE/EC staff members’ professional growth.
- Work collaboratively with staff to upload and create relevant content to be used for asynchronous learning on the LMS.
- Work collaboratively with Professional Development team, and Operations Staff to determine training and development needs across all elements of school operations.
- Assist with new school activations and training by providing all needed training.
- Stay current on national, state, and local requirements, laws and rules relating to ESE/EC K-12 education and school operations

- Stay current on national, state, and local requirements, laws and rules relating to ESOL K-12 education and school operations
- Provides professional development aligned to the ALS instructional Model.
- Build, maintain and effectively communicate an integrated ESE/ESOL compliance framework that captures all regulatory requirements to which ALS/ALS schools are subject
- Update the SOM framework when there are changes to SOM, laws, rules, and contractual obligations
- Knowledge of effective training practices in ESE/EC and ESOL education
- Knowledge blended learning pedagogy and education
- Ability to deliver effective and engaging professional presentations.
- Ability for day and overnight travel to other sites/locations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Skilled verbal and written communication
- Skilled teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Skilled Mastery of MS Office, including Excel, and Word and PowerPoint.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or higher in education,
- 3+ years of teaching experience in ESE/EC at the high school or middle school level required
- Experience working with ELL/ESOL population preferred
