Role Description This is a part-time on-site Tutor role based in the east Orlando area, with in-person sessions at the Avalon Park center. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing one-on-one and small group academic support, explaining concepts in clear, accessible ways, and guiding students through homework, test preparation, and skill-building activities. The Tutor will assess student understanding, track progress, and adjust teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.

The role also involves communicating with families or guardians about student progress and maintaining accurate records of sessions and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Ability to explain academic concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
• Strong skills in organizing lessons, managing time, and maintaining structured study plans for students.
• Comfort supporting students in core subjects (such as math, reading, writing, and science) at various grade levels.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, encouraging approach to student support.
• Ability to use basic technology for virtual sessions, scheduling, and tracking student progress.
• Previous tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience is preferred.
• High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in education or a related field is a plus.
• Availability to work after-school hours and reliably travel to Avalon Park for in-person sessions.
