Valencia College is now hiring a part-time Learning Assistant II (Tutor) to join the Learning Support Center tutoring team at the Lake Nona Campus. This position will be supporting students with Science
.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous tutoring experience
- Successfully completed one or more of the following courses:
- General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II, Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology 1, Anatomy & Physiology 2
- FICA Alternative to Social Security

Additional Information:
- This position operates in a Primarily On-Site environment with the possibility of occasional virtual meeting/training components.
- This position is eligible for Veteran’s Preference under Florida Statute 295.07(5)(a), F.S.

General Position Description
The Learning Assistant II will be responsible for providing academic assistance, mentoring and learning centered tutoring to any currently enrolled student based upon appropriate assessment of student needs.

Essential Job Functions
Description of Job Function
1. Provides one on one or small group tutoring to currently enrolled students in a particular discipline.
2. Assesses academic ability of students being tutored using provided measurement instruments.
3. Meets with supervisory staff on a regular scheduled basis to discuss academic progress of students being tutored.
4. Assists supervisor with academic needs assessment.
5. Documents student progress for each session using provided instruments.
6. Implements an academic action plan for each session using provided instruments.
7. Participate in staff development training.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
