Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher

CECO is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher to join our team.

As a mission-driven nonprofit organization, CECO provides educational and life-skills programming for individuals with neurological motor disabilities, including cerebral palsy. Through our Conductive Education model, we bring together physical, cognitive, social, and educational development to help each individual build greater independence and reach their potential.

The ESE Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction while working closely with CECO's multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys a hands-on environment and is comfortable adapting instruction to meet a wide range of developmental, educational, behavioral, and physical needs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Endorsement
  • Florida Professional Teaching Certificate (PreK–3rd) preferred
  • American Sign Language (ASL) skills preferred
  • Experience providing instruction in small-group settings of approximately 6–7 students and/or one-on-one
  • Strong classroom and behavior management abilities
  • Ability to modify and differentiate instruction based on individual developmental levels and learning needs
  • Experience with student assessment and progress monitoring
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on students' abilities, goals, and developmental needs
  • Work collaboratively with CECO's multidisciplinary team to develop and implement differentiated educational programming
  • Monitor student performance through ongoing data collection and use results to guide instructional decisions
  • Complete and maintain accurate attendance, progress, and student documentation
  • Incorporate Conductive Education principles into daily classroom instruction and make appropriate modifications for individual students
  • Partner with professional staff to establish and monitor student goals across physical, cognitive, educational, and social areas
  • Adjust programming and instructional strategies based on student progress
  • Use proactive and positive behavior-management techniques, including redirection and data collection
  • Assist with functional behavior assessments and behavior-plan development when appropriate
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide activities
  • Provide basic caregiving assistance while following universal health and safety precautions
Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Repetitively lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Stand, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, sit, carry, push, and pull throughout the workday
  • Physically assist students and move equipment as necessary
  • Ambulate independently without the use of an assistive device
  • Hear and appropriately respond to sounds within the surrounding environment
  • Maintain the physical and mental stamina necessary to safely support students throughout the day
Preferred Experience
  • 1–3 years of teaching experience working with children with diverse disabilities, developmental needs, and/or behavioral needs

Work Location: In person

Salary: $51,000-$53,000 (based on experience)
