Assistant Professor, School of Social Work

The Opportunity

The School of Social Work in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at the University of Central Florida invites applications for a 9-month, tenure earning, assistant professor position. The selected candidate will be expected to pursue innovative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research and publicly engaged scholarship; teach undergraduate and graduate level social work classes; and participate in meaningful service at the school, college, university, and community levels.

The selected candidate will be expected to teach courses on the UCF main campus, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2027.

The School of Social Work is recognized regionally and nationally for the superior quality of its educational offerings and its contributions to clinical social work, health care, scholarship, and service to our community. The school has 34 full-time faculty, 10 staff, numerous adjunct faculty, and over 900 students. We offer a BSW, and an MSW program. There are various campus base and online tracks in the MSW program.

The College of Health Professions and Sciences includes three schools, one department, and six centers and institutes and is a core member of the UCF Academic Health Sciences Center, alongside the College of Nursing and College of Medicine. The college is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and community impact.

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program at the time of application.

• Ph.D./DSW in Social Work or a related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD’s will be considered if degree is earned by the start of the appointment period.

• A research agenda showing opportunities for collaboration with the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Training and faculty at UCF.

• Scholars focused on one or all of the following areas: child welfare, intervention research, environmental social work, and sports social work.

• A publication record and current funding or evidence of potential for external funding.

• Teaching experience in social work or related discipline.

• Two years of post MSW social work practice experience.

• A curriculum vitae.

• A letter of interest describing qualifications for the position, including research agenda, teaching experience/interest, and alignment with the UCF School of Social work.
