Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior CEI Inspector to join and help grow our Transportation Business Unit in Florida. This position is intended for a highly experienced transportation professional who can provide senior-level construction engineering and inspection expertise while also contributing to client development, pursuit of new work, and the growth of the business
.

The Senior CEI Inspector will serve as a key representative of the firm on transportation construction projects, working closely with clients, contractors, project teams, and agency representatives. In addition to providing technical oversight and field inspection, this individual will play an active role in developing client relationships, identifying opportunities, supporting proposals and pursuits, and helping the Transportation Business Unit win new work.

The ideal candidate is a respected transportation professional with strong Florida CEI experience, excellent communication skills, established industry relationships, and the ability to transition effectively between project delivery and business development.

Key Responsibilities Construction Engineering & Inspection
  • Provide senior-level CEI services and field oversight for roadway, bridge, drainage, utilities, traffic control, and other transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor contractor operations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, contract requirements, approved submittals, and applicable standards.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, contract documents, and technical requirements.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, construction activities, and completed work for compliance with project requirements.
  • Document daily construction activities, quantities, materials, testing, personnel, equipment, delays, issues, and other project conditions.
  • Verify installed quantities and support accurate measurement and documentation for contractor payments.
  • Monitor quality-control testing and coordinate with testing personnel, laboratories, surveyors, and other project staff.
  • Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, potential claims, schedule issues, and other construction concerns and communicate them to the appropriate project personnel.
  • Monitor Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) operations and compliance with approved traffic control plans.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation, including inspection reports, photographs, quantity records, correspondence, and other project records.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, field meetings, and project coordination activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate inspectors and other project staff.
  • Support Project Administrators, Resident Engineers, and project managers in successful delivery of transportation construction projects.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as a senior point of contact and professional representative of the firm with clients, FDOT, municipalities, counties, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Understand client needs and proactively identify opportunities to improve service, project delivery, and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in client meetings, project presentations, interviews, and other relationship-building activities.
  • Represent the firm professionally in the Florida transportation industry and at relevant industry events and organizations.
  • Help establish the firm as a trusted CEI and transportation infrastructure advisor to public- and private-sector clients.
Business Development & Winning Work
  • Play an active role in winning new transportation work in Florida
    .
  • Identify upcoming transportation projects, contracting opportunities, and potential clients that align with the firm's capabilities.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships to develop new opportunities and strengthen the firm's market position.
  • Support the development of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), proposals, presentations, and interview materials.
  • Participate in pursuit strategy, capture planning, teaming discussions, and client outreach.
