The “Engineer I, Configuration” (or “Configuration Engineer I”) position is an entry‑level engineering role responsible for clarifying, defining, maintaining, consolidating, and optimizing the configurations of “parts” (components, sub‑assemblies, assemblies, and/or kits) of gas turbines (GTs), steam turbines (STs), and related auxiliaries to facilitate the reliable and effective service operations of existing and future power generation facilities. Responsibilities include continually developing and maintaining engineering databases, system interfaces, data‑exchange architecture, business process coordination, and other systems, processes, and improvements necessary to provide a comprehensive knowledge base regarding the expanding fleet of GTs and STs sold and/or serviced by Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc.

(MPW‑A). The role also rapidly responds to customer requests for quotations or purchases by clarifying and assigning MPW‑A part numbers and ensuring sufficient engineering definition is available for sourcing, suppliers, and manufacturers.

• Collect, analyze, summarize, and understand business requirements and develop configuration specifications (including design BoMs, service BoMs, parts catalogs, and quotable/procurable part definitions) to accurately document GT, ST, and AUX configurations at various lifecycle states, including as‑built assembly configurations and ongoing maintenance states.
• Review and recommend changes to configuration management processes, develop process improvements to automate and streamline these processes, and suggest environment modifications to support system needs.
• Provide technical support for system design, testing, and implementation activities to support ongoing part consolidation efforts within MPW‑A. Identify shortcomings and missed information that result in business inefficiencies. Apply industry best practices and remain current on technical skills in configuration management.
• Collect and consolidate corporate baseline of GT, ST, and AUX installations supported by MPW‑A. Study equipment interchangeability and upgrade planning. Develop process improvements that support rapid access to accurate and current installation configuration information.
• Respond rapidly (typically within hours or days) to daily incoming transactional/LTSA customer requests for quoting/ordering GT, ST, and/or AUX parts, primarily via part clarification, part definition, and/or part publishing (from PLM to ERP).
• Provide remote same‑day “on‑call” support outside regular business hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays) when assigned in advance via an internally maintained on‑call schedule/rotation (typically for one continuous week, once every one to two months), to support planned or forced outages at customer sites physically serviced by MPW‑A.
