Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
Readiness Delivered. Kratos engineers and deploys technology and systems that move national security forward, with the cost, speed, and reliability that make readiness certain. We are a trusted partner, driven by doing the right thing and achieving maximum success for our customers, our partners and ourselves. The electrical engineer provides expertise in electrical engineering principles, power systems, electronics, control systems, and relevant codes and standards to design, analyze, develop, test, and manage electrical systems and components, ensuring they meet project objectives.
Responsibilities- Analyzes project requirements, technical specifications, line diagrams, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE) to design, develop, and implement robust electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, grounding, control, and communications
- Develops, reviews, and maintains comprehensive electrical design documentation, including detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, cable tray layouts, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and calculations using CAD and electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks)
- Performs electrical system calculations and analyses, such as load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash, protective device coordination, voltage drop, and lighting
- Selects and specifies electrical equipment, components, and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and performance standards
- Contributes to design and integration of control systems for electrical equipment and processes, including PLC programming and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Prepares and reviews scope of work documents, cost estimates, and project schedules for electrical engineering tasks
- Oversees or participates in the installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment
- Conducts site inspections and surveys to assess existing electrical installations and to gather information for new designs
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure integration of electrical systems and resolve technical issues
- Ensures electrical designs and installations comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements
- Provides technical support and guidance on electrical matters throughout the project lifecycle
