Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Orlando, FL who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will work directly with clients to ensure Leidos' reputation for high-quality work. You will gain expertise in areas including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards.
This position is based out of our local Orlando, FL office, but has some potential to be a hybrid working scenario, depending on business needs.
Responsibilities- Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams. This includes work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and Work Management systems.
- Assist with supervision of design staff and QA/QC efforts for your team.
- Collaborate with other design leads on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control.
- Review engineering design packages with clients; perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up.
- Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities.
- Oversee your team's engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and client design standards have been met.
- 4+ years of prior relevant experience either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering for electric distribution is required.
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution; additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Prior experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
- Ability to provide your own reliable transportation, as some local, customer-related travel may be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Providing estimated costs, development of a BOM.
- Micro Station — performing Electrical Distribution design.
- Work management software and job estimating software.

Pay and Compliance- Pay Range: $73,450.00 - $
