We are looking for a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team in Orlando, FL. As a Protection & Control Engineer, candidates will design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This field offers exposure to how power generation, including renewable energy, ties into the electric system. Candidates will apply knowledge of digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.

Schedule:
(3) days a week in Orlando, FL
- Design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities (12kV–500kV).
- Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring designs for substations.
- Prepare studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
- Collaborate with a design team (engineers, designers, CAD technicians) and align with client standards.
- Provide complete project lifecycle support from scoping to final design and implementation; support construction as needed.
- Apply minimum requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code to design processes.
- Work with clients and a range of utilities nationwide; interface with local clients and various disciplines.
- Lead, collaborate with a designer/drafter to create required drawings for each project.
- Interfacing with Local Clients and partnering with utility clients nationwide.
- Working on projects ranging from distribution to transmission level voltages.
- Electrical power calculations and design collaboration with substation, telecom, and civil disciplines.
- Protection and control design activities and related project documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of substation protection/control design or field testing/commissioning experience.
- Experience executing substation protection and control projects.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and clients.
- Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, wiring designs).
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; strong teamwork and leadership capabilities; self-starter with minimal direction.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high computer competency.
- Willingness to travel to project/client sites and to the Portland, OR office as needed.
- US Citizen and able to pass a DOE background check.
- Engineer Intern (EI) / EIT professional certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience performing quality control checks on substation protection and control design projects.
- Experience working with CAD tools.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Field testing/commissioning experience.
