Overview
We are looking for a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team role involves designing substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV, with exposure to how renewable energy ties into the electric system. Candidates should use knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to design substation electrical projects.

In this role, you can also expect to gain experience in the following:

Location: Orlando, FL
Responsibilities- Design and planning activities for electric transmission, distribution, and substation facilities, including preparation of single-lines, schematics, and wiring designs; perform quality control checks.
- Prepare studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
- Contribute to complete project lifecycle from scoping to final design and implementation; provide construction support.
- Apply the Minimum Requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code to design processes; work with client standards to implement design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with eight (8+) years of substation protection and control design and/or field testing/commissioning experience; or
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with six (6+) years of substation protection and control design and/or field testing/commissioning experience.
- Experience executing substation protection and control projects.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with internal teams and clients to meet project needs.
- Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings (one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, wiring designs).
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; collaborative and able to lead in a team environment; self-starter with minimal direction; detail-oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high computer competency.
- Willingness to travel to project/client sites and Portland, OR office as needed.
- Engineer Intern (EI) or EIT
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience performing quality control checks on small substation protection and control design projects
- Experience working with CAD tools
- Master’s degree in related field
- Field testing/commissioning experience
