In this role, you will coordinate and manage the engineering and technical development of projects, working closely with the Facilities and Business Operations Project Managers. You will be responsible for setting project objectives, supporting estimating, project management, and field operations to ensure project goals are achieved.
This position requires a strong familiarity with all aspects of the construction process and plays a crucial support role throughout highly technical and engineering-intensive University projects. You will participate in the conceptual development of construction projects, monitor critical dates, attend pre-construction and regular meetings, and address project engineering-related inquiries. Acting as the primary liaison between UES, Facilities Operations, and Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction, you will leverage strong construction and MEP experience (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).
Responsibilities:
Assist and support UCF Facilities Planning & Construction and Facilities Operations with project estimating, management, and field operations to ensure alignment with University client goals and objectives.
Act as the primary liaison between UES and FP&C for University projects, collaborating with the UES AVP and Engineering Director to provide project guidance.
Participate in the conceptual development, organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of University construction projects in conjunction with the UES Engineering team, FO, and Facilities Planning & Construction.
Support the project management team by researching and resolving complex engineering issues that arise during project development and construction.
Provide technical support and guidance to project team members, review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for completeness, and participate in pre- and construction meetings with VP, AVP, and Facilities Planning and Construction PMs.
Review LEED construction deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
Document all items discussed during construction meetings, including status updates, responsibilities, and completion dates.
Report project progress to the UES AVP and UES Engineering Director, and handle negotiations and procurements with subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
Approve payment requests, perform site inspections, and generate final punch lists.
Participate in pre-construction job turnover processes to ensure timely handovers.
Regularly inspect job sites to review conditions and progress, which may require climbing ladders, lifting, and walking for extended periods in a construction environment.
Assist with audits, inspections, and deficiency logs, and manage self-perform trades while monitoring budgeted versus actual costs.
Participate in and provide input for continuing services contractor evaluation committees.
Ensure projects adhere to UCF quality standards and specifications, maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and resolve technical issues.
Analyze equipment, systems, and processes to recommend modifications for improved efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Collaborate with the facilities operations department to troubleshoot problems during construction and prepare periodic progress and cost reports for leadership.
