Overview
OUC - The Reliable One is seeking a Combined Cycle Power Generation Engineer to join the Engineering & Operations team. We are looking for a technically strong, results-driven professional to provide engineering and project management support for Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (O&M), ensuring safe, efficient, reliable generation while leading plant modification and improvement projects.
Job PurposeProvide technical support for Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (O&M). Review O&M data to ensure proper, safe, efficient and reliable generation. Manage projects including plant modifications and improvements while directing OUC labor and contractors.
Primary Functions- Develop and write technical specifications and scope for plant projects, maintain project budgets, assist Purchasing with RFPs and provide engineering evaluation for bid documents.
- Provide technical support for O&M; review plant data to ensure accurate, safe and efficient generation.
- Supervise plant modifications, improvements, and OUC craft labor and contractors during all project phases.
- Write and develop technical specifications for plant projects.
- Assist Purchasing with RFPs, bid documents, vendor evaluations and negotiations.
- Prepare justification of plant projects based on safety, environmental, technology changes, economic analysis and efficiency improvements.
- Review and implement plans, drawings, specifications, safety procedures and LOTO requirements; manage equipment manuals, inventories, billing and contractual performance.
- Inspect fluid analysis, NDE, vibrations, emissions, boiler and scrubber chemistry to ensure current best practices.
- Troubleshoot plant processes to identify root causes and repairs.
- Generate budget proposals and justifications for management and the Capital Review Committee as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of power generation systems including mechanical, electrical, environmental, gas, chemical, electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems; familiarity with safety permits including LOTO and confined space.
- Experience with process control systems (DCS, PLCs) and related IT and software tools (e.g., CMMS, AutoCAD, Primavera, Microsoft Project).
- Knowledge of NERC/CIP policies and industry standards (ASME, NACE, NEMA, IEEE).
- Ability to review prints/drawings (P&IDs, mechanical/electrical diagrams) and operation and maintenance logs, trends, and test reports.
- Financial and economic analysis/justification (NPV, ROI) and ability to develop budgets and support contracts.
- Ability to work standby and on-call; proficient arithmetic and Microsoft Office skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience including power plant operations, industrial processes, and project management, specifically supporting combined cycle gas turbine plants (CCGT) with HRSG, gas turbines, and steam turbines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Registered Professional Engineer (preferred).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred).
- Wastewater and process water experience (preferred).
- Experience designing or optimizing chemical injection systems used in water treatment processes at power plants (preferred).
- Special training upon hire (e.g., plant/environment equipment operations, DCS/PLC, continual training).
Salary Range: $ - $ annually – commensurate with experience. The range reflects the full pay grade. Starting salaries typically fall within the first half of the range.
