About the Role
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an experienced Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer to join a team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting contracts and in‑house R&D initiatives.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation, and sensor fusion.
- Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations, utilizing techniques such as matched filters, convolutional neural networks, and other methods to detect targets of interest.
- Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments, and verify system and subsystem level requirements.
- Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware‑In‑The‑Loop (HWIL) activities.
- Collaborate with small teams of engineers and algorithm developers on various programs at different stages of product development.
- Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.
- BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related STEM field.
- Interim clearance required at start; must be a U.S. citizen.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C++.
- Experience performing analysis trades utilizing simulations (e.g., simulation model development, performance assessment, flight test scenario planning, pre‑ and post‑flight predictions, analysis tool creation, GNC algorithm assessments, simulation verification and validation).
- Experience implementing and debugging GNC algorithms in real‑time environments and processing instrumented real‑time system data.
- Proficiency in developing and validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real‑time data collections.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in MATLAB.
- Experience with linear algebra software packages.
- Experience with Extended and Unscented Kalman filtering.
- Experience with inertial navigation and GPS processing techniques.
- Strong programming skills suitable for C++ development in a Linux environment.
- Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real‑time performance requirements.
- Knowledge of electro‑optical/infrared detection technology, optics, and principles of radiometry.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. citizen. Clearance level:
Secret with investigation or CV date within 5 years.
