Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Staff

Description

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire control is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to support the SNIPER sensor program.

Responsibilities
  • Generate complete, release‑ready engineering documents (drawings, BOMs, assembly parts lists) for fabrication and procurement.
  • Perform tolerance stack up and fit analyses to ensure manufacturability and reliability of mechanical components.
  • Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and secure formal engineering release approvals.
  • Build BOMs, create parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM.
  • Coordinate the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence, including occasional travel for site visits.
Basic Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant industry.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and complex system‑level tolerance analysis.
  • Proficient in Computer Aided Design (PTC CREO preferred).
  • Experience generating engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Opto‑Mechanical Design Experience.
  • Leadership experience, leading tasking and decision making over small or large teams.
  • Ability to guide major projects to completion and engage with senior personnel on significant matters, including multi‑functional and multi‑site teams.
  • Ability to lead investigative efforts and report status to senior personnel.
Security Clearance Statement

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Other Important Information

Ability to work remotely:
Part‑time remote telework; employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part onsite at a Lockheed Martin facility.

Schedule:

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
