The Opportunity
Tetra Tech has an immediate opening for a full-time Civil Engineer I. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and has obtained their Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the Civil Designer of Record and multidisciplinary project teams to support the development of construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering analyses.
Projects will span a diverse client base, including commercial, municipal, industrial, and federal sectors. This is a remote opportunity.

Position SummaryWe are currently seeking a full-time Civil Engineer I to join our team. In this role, the engineer will partner with the Civil Designer of Record and collaborate with project teams to assist in preparing construction documents, including drawings, technical specifications, and engineering analyses. The position supports a broad range of projects serving commercial, municipal, industrial, and federal clients.
Essential Job FunctionsThe following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
- Assist in the preparation of civil engineering designs, calculations, and technical analyses under the guidance of senior engineers and the Civil Designer of Record.
- Support the development of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects.
- Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure designs meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.
- Perform site evaluations, data collection, and field inspections as needed to support project development.
- Utilize engineering software and design tools to produce accurate and efficient design solutions.
- Review and interpret applicable codes, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance across all project deliverables.
- Assist with project coordination tasks, including communicating with team members and contributing to project timelines and deliverables.
- Provide support during the construction phase, including responding to requests for information (RFIs) and reviewing submittals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineering in Training (EIT) certification
- Experience in using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil drawings
- Experience with stormwater and water quality systems, LID/green infrastructure, grading, drainage, and street design
- Experience with water and sewer systems
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- A valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to client offices and project sites when required (local and interstate travel required)
- Must be able to pass a background screen
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using standard engineering software such as HEC-RAS, Autodesk Stormwater and Sanitary Analysis or GeoSTORM is preferred
Physical RequirementsRegularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods; occasional standing and walking within the office environment.
Occasionally required to lift/move up to 10 lbs., with infrequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
