Job Summary
A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection, or Mechanical Engineering, minimum 6 years of work experience. Must be Professionally licensed in the United States.
Responsibilities- Individuals assigned to this class will perform engineering calculations and must be able to layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, code, and exercise judgment with minimal to no supervision.
- Independently apply practical knowledge and experience in the field to resolve problems and conflicts related to assigned projects.
- Occasionally supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers or designers.
- Possess knowledge of discipline‑specific codes and other building codes.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate good leadership skills to educate clients on design and other project requirements.
- Meet with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
- Work with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to prepare design budgets and schedules.
- Estimate discipline man‑hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
- Lead and assign design job functions to designated designers, supervising efforts to complete the project on time and within budget.
- Implement specified system types and provide complete construction documents that meet client and project team requirements.
- Review preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection; perform final review of engineering drawings.
- Serve as client contact.
- Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer.
- Mentor and motivate Engineering Designers I, II, and III.
- Set high standards, uphold professional integrity, and act in the best interest of the company and clients.
