Electrical Engineer or Designer

Matern Professional Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer or Electrical Designer for our Maitland‑Orlando, FL office.

• Lighting design and lighting controls
• Power distribution
• Emergency and standby power systems
• Generators
• UPS systems
• Fire alarm systems
• Site lighting
• Surge protection
• Lightning protection
• Grounding
• Low‑voltage infrastructure coordination
• Prepare electrical construction documents in Revit and/or AutoCAD
• Prepare electrical drawings, lighting layouts, lighting calculations, panel schedules, load calculations, voltage drop calculations, one‑line diagrams, specifications, and design narratives
• Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, authorities, and internal mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, and construction teams

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field (for Engineer candidates)
• Two or more years of electrical building systems design experience (preferred)
• E.I./EIT registration preferred but not required; interest in pursuing professional licensure
• No BS required for Designer candidates
• Five or more years of electrical building systems design experience (preferred)
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple assignments, willingness to work collaboratively
• Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, Florida Building Code, Florida Energy Code, NFPA standards, and applicable Florida electrical requirements
• Ability to pass project‑specific background checks, including school sites, Jessica Lunsford Act, and government/FBI screening where applicable
